Drums, IBCs or bulk — which supply format?
The same product delivers a different total cost in a different package. The decision is not only the price per litre — transfer, storage and waste handling all feed into it.
Drums (208 L)
The most common option: easy to move around, but exposed to contamination and moisture pick-up each time it is opened. Pump and bung hygiene matter.
IBCs and bulk
At high consumption these lower unit cost and cut empty-package handling. In return they need a fixed tank, level monitoring and a suitable transfer line on site.
How to decide
Weigh monthly consumption, the number of different products and in-plant distances together. Many low-volume products in drums, with a single high-volume product in bulk, is usually the lowest total cost.
